With this freedom comes the obligation to deal with budgeting issues without the luxury of an accounting department. Here are five useful tips that can help any entrepreneur or solopreneur manage their budget and make it work effectively.</p>
<p><strong>Encourage Subscriptions or Retainers</strong></p>
<p>It can be tough not knowing whether that star client from last month is going to propose another project this month. This uncertainty can put a strain on budgetary planning. Reduce this uncertainty by encouraging your clients to subscribe to your services or put them on a retainer. That way, you will have a clearer idea of how much money you will earn.</p>
<p>Incentivize subscriptions or retainers by offering discounts to clients who opt for this method or giving bonuses like eBooks, free webinars, and discounts for services provided by partners. Many consumers are more interested in a subscription if it carries a discount or offers something of value.</p>
<p><strong>Separate Business and Personal Expenses</strong></p>
<p>One way to avoid a budgetary mess is to separate business and personal expenses. This will make tax time much easier and will eliminate the need to search for papers or documents at the last minute. Have an account strictly for business purposes and use a business credit card for professional expenses only to keep things neat and orderly all year round and especially at tax time.</p>
<p><strong>Keep an Extra Fund for Large Expenses</strong></p>
<p>Many opportunities only come along once. It is important to have the funds available to take advantage of these opportunities, especially if they are potentially game-changing for your business. It could be a conference where you can drum up more clients and raise brand awareness or software that will improve communication with your clients. Putting a little money aside regularly for this fund will ensure you can make the investment when it comes along.</p>
<p><strong>Automate Your Budgeting Tasks</strong></p>
<p>If you are still figuring out your budget and expenses with a pencil and paper, it’s time to get automated. Entering income and expenses into a software accounting program on a daily basis will make budgeting easier and will provide metrics that will help you monitor your business’ growth daily. Getting rid of those notebooks and slips of paper will also make your bookkeeping more efficient.</p>

You can find lots of great templates and videos to help you pump out great videos even if you don’t have a lot of experience. In addition, I may use Snagit more than any other tool on this list (other than Flawless Followup). Snagit is the best tool for screen captures. Most of the on screen images you see in my courses and emails come from Snagit. They are from the same company and can be purchased in a bundle.<br />

<p><a href="https://zaplink.us/prettylink"><strong>Pretty Links</strong></a> &#8211; Stop posting long, ugly links that look terrible and easily get broken on mobile devices. Even worse, if you are an affiliate and send out a “raw link”, it is easy for somebody to erase your affiliate code and rob you of your commission.  The best solution is for you to create your own short link domain like I do with “zaplink.us”. Pretty Links is a WordPress plugin that gives you great control over your links. I use Pretty Links on all my domains and also have my clients use them as well. If they still offer it, I suggest you get a developers license so you can do the same.<br />

<p><a href="https://zaplink.us/deadline"><strong>Deadline Funnel</strong></a> &#8211; Urgency is a huge motivator when it comes to converting sales. Nothing is more powerful than a countdown timer on your sales page and in your messaging. You will often see 3X or more sales come through right before the deadline. There are many timers out there. But Deadline Funnel is the best, and so far the only one I see, that automatically coordinates your website with your emails. It also has the best security in place so that people can’t “cheat the system” after the deal expires.<br />

<p>It&#8217;s Steve Rosenbaum from SteveRosenbaum.com. I&#8217;ve got a little tip for you. I&#8217;m working in LinkedIn right now. I thought I&#8217;d let you look over my shoulders. You know, when it comes to building relationships, as one of the four categories in your SSI score, you&#8217;re going to reach out to a lot of people.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m in the midst of an outreach campaign right now. And I want to show you something that you want to keep tidy in your account, because this probably affects your SSI score. And certainly you don&#8217;t want to let it get too unwieldy. Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;m talking about. Let me switch over here to my desktop view.</p>
<p>When you reach out to people each and every day you send them a connection message. And if you go under my network, here&#8217;s something you may not know. When you go here to your invitations, you can see that I&#8217;m very active right now in this outreach campaign, I have 195 people that want to connect with me.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going through these one by one, sending them a message, something you definitely want to do. Take a look at this tab that says &#8220;Sent&#8221;. These are invitations you have sent out in the past that have not been accepted. Right now I have 178.</p>
<p>I had gotten up to as high as 305 when I started this. And I thought, I&#8217;d show you what I&#8217;m doing, because this is important. You don&#8217;t want to let these go too long. If you do, you could end up getting penalized. It is rumored, that this is one of the factors that LinkedIn looks into is how many of these connection requests you have outstanding.</p>
<p>Because if you&#8217;ve got a lot outstanding, I guess the thought is maybe you&#8217;re automating. Maybe you&#8217;re doing something that&#8217;s not right. Maybe you&#8217;re reaching out to people you shouldn&#8217;t. So the bottom line is after some period of time, you can see these are I&#8217;m at two months.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what I do. I go to the bottom and then I go to the last page here, which is page two. And I&#8217;ll just start withdrawing these. It&#8217;s a fairly tedious process, but you can get through it in 15 minutes, not a big deal. You just simply say withdrawal and confirm it. Give it a second to refresh. You&#8217;ll see, she goes away. Next one comes up and just repeat the process, go through it.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m down to one 76. I&#8217;ll keep doing this until I get down to the past few weeks to a month. Certainly if you get up over a couple hundred start withdrawing them. Nobody knows for sure, but I have heard it said that this could count against you in your SSI score.</p>
<p>It certainly could come against you when they&#8217;re looking at you. And wondering if you are working LinkedIn authentically. Authenticity is what LinkedIn wants. They want you authentically working here, building your network and not automating it and not doing spam and all that kind of stuff.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s my tip for you today. It is keeping your invitations sent clean. It&#8217;s an important step to log into LinkedIn right now. And go ahead and go through that process and just know that this is just one of the many things that I teach in my LinkedIn Dominance program, but I wanted to share it with you so that you can improve your SSI score in your own account.</p>

<p>Confused by that headline?</p>



<p>Don&#8217;t worry it all makes sense once you&#8217;ve read this short and powerful post and claimed my free gift buried inside. (Another sales lesson lesson I learned by eating Cracker Jack as a kid 😉).</p>



<p>I know a lot of people hate the idea of selling anything. They tell me things like &#8220;Selling makes them feel slimy and dirty&#8221;.</p>



<p>The trouble is, those same people have grown accustomed to niceties like eating when they&#8217;re hungry and having a roof over their heads to protect themselves and their families.</p>



<p>Make no mistake about it&#8230; You have to sell, or you perish.</p>



<p>Yup, I said.</p>



<p>You can&#8217;t get anywhere in life without selling.</p>



<p>Think about it.</p>



<p>You had to sell your parents on the idea of letting you drive when you were a teenager. When you got your first job, you had to sell your company on the idea of hiring you. You had to sell your spouse on the idea of partnering with you for life. You had to sell the bank on giving you a mortgage so you can buy a house.</p>



<p>Get the idea?</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">You&#8217;re Better Than You Think</h2>



<p>The reality is, not only do you do it, but you&#8217;re probably better at it than you realize. So, let me give you my secret to beating the pants off my competition and having a ton of fun doing it so that you can stop hating and start loving the fine art of selling!</p>



<p>I&#8217;ve got trophies on my wall and cash in the bank from winning sales contests and beating out companies considerably bigger than mine.</p>



<p>In fact, recently, while at a 7 and 8 figure mastermind event I was invited to, one of the members stood up and vouched about me…</p>



<p>&#8220;This guy&#8217;s a BEAST, I&#8217;ve never seen anybody drive sales like him from a single promotion.&#8221;</p>



<p>Well, that got everybody&#8217;s attention!</p>



<p>Almost in unison, the entire room demanded: &#8220;How&#8217;d you do it?&#8221;</p>

<p>The kicker was there was a spot literally 4 spots away from her, but that was just too far to walk!</p>

<p>I was recently asked at an event why I am called &#8220;The Original Back End Specialist&#8221;. If you&#8217;re in business or in sales, it&#8217;s an important story. It shows the immediate power of differentiating yourself from everybody else.</p>

<p><strong>Transcription:</strong></p>
<p>Many of you know that I earned the title of &#8220;The Original Back End Specialist&#8221;. Let me tell you the story of how that came about!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a cool story. First, because it teaches you how to create opportunity for yourself. It also teaches you how to differentiate yourself from everybody else. Finally, and most importantly, it illustrates what business owners desire most from you.</p>
<p>This is a picture that&#8217;s actually hanging on my wall right next to me as I&#8217;m speaking to you. An artist sketched this a few years ago while I had lunch with Jeff Lipton, the owner of Bobalu Cigar Company.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s Jeff on the left. That&#8217;s me in the center, and that&#8217;s my wife Sherri on the right. This is early on in my relationship with Jeff and Bobalu.</p>
<p>It was a steaming hot day and I was downtown Austin, Texas looking for new clients. I was just getting started as a marketing consultant. This was right after I got fired from my job and I decided to go into business for myself.</p>
<p>My back was up against the wall. We were having trouble paying the bills, having trouble making the mortgage.</p>
<p>Believe me, I&#8217;ve been there more than once and we were going through one of those times. I was out drumming up business, going door to door. I was cold calling.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m a trained salesmen with 30 plus years experience and I have to tell you I hate cold calling.</p>
<p>Cold calling is a complete waste of time.</p>
<p>But, back then I resorted to it because I was a still unclear about how to differentiate myself.</p>
<p>Even with all my knowledge, I was still feeling a little desperate. I needed to make things happen and start bringing in some revenue.</p>
<p>It was the end of a full day and I was getting ready to come home. I knew that if I jumped on the highway now, it was going to take me over an hour to get home because of rush hour traffic.</p>
<p>So I decided to stay downtown and kill an hour before heading home.</p>
<p>I found my way to this cigar shop called Bobalu Cigar Company. It&#8217;s this funky little place and they actually rolled their own cigars.</p>
<p>That was kind of cool.</p>
<p>I sat down to boot up my laptop and light up a cigar I just bought. The owner came to my table and introduced himself as, Jeff.</p>
<p>&#8220;Hey, is this your first time to Bobalu&#8217;s?&#8221; He asked. &#8220;What brings you in?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I was just downtown looking for business, &#8221; I replied.</p>
<p>&#8220;Really, what do you do?&#8221;</p>
<p>So, I answered him, &#8220;I&#8217;m a marketing consultant.&#8221;</p>
<p>Jeff turned around in anger and literally walked away from me. I could tell I pissed him off, but had no idea why!</p>
<p>&#8220;Whoa, Whoa, whoa buddy,&#8221; I called out. &#8220;What did I say? How did I upset you so much?&#8221;</p>
<p>He turned back around, pointed his finger and charged back at me.</p>
<p>His voice rising in anger. &#8220;I bet you came in here just to try to sell me something or get me to hire you.&#8221;</p>
<p>That was just the beginning! He continued blasting me.</p>
<p>&#8220;I get people like you coming in my business several times a week. You guys call yourselves marketing consultants. You guys promise me you&#8217;re going to get me number one on Google and more Facebook likes and all this other stuff&#8221;</p>
<p>He&#8217;s shaking in anger, but he continues, &#8220;Last month I spent $2,000 and these guys promised me all kinds of shit.&#8221;</p>
<p>(Yes, he actually called it &#8220;Shit&#8221;).</p>
<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t even know what I got out of that, All I know is that I don&#8217;t have the $2,000 I flushed down the toilet with them. He&#8217;s showing me all sorts of crap that doesn&#8217;t mean anything to me. He thinks he did a good job, and all I know is that I haven&#8217;t sold any more cigars.&#8221;</p>
<p>I quickly got my footing and responded.</p>
<p>&#8220;I see the problem. All those other guys, they&#8217;re talking about the front end. They&#8217;re talking about getting you more traffic. They&#8217;re talking about getting you more likes on Facebook&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>I continued.</p>
<p>&#8220;None of that is going to help if you don&#8217;t have a back end. The back end is what keeps your customers coming back to buy more cigars. Because if they buy one cigar and smoke it, you want them to come back and buy 100 cigars, right?</p>
<p>He cocked his head. I could tell he liked what I was saying, so I continued.</p>
<p>&#8220;I focus on the back end of the marketing funnel. I make sure those customers come back. You could call me a <strong><em>Back End Specialist!</em></strong>&#8221;</p>
<p>His face lit up in excitement, &#8220;THAT&#8217;s what I need! I need a Back End Specialist!&#8221;</p>
<p>It&#8217;s funny, I had never used that term before. It just came up as I was defending my territory.</p>
<p>I was trying to break down those barriers and explain how I was different from all the other people..</p>

<p>I remember the day, November 6, 2011&#8230;</p>
<p>It was the last day that I woke up with the overwhelming stress, that at that time, was plaguing me every waking moment of every single day.</p>
<p>My head was pounding with the agonizing questions:</p>

<p>Everything changed for me the next day, and I do mean EVERYTHING!</p>
<p>Beginning November 7, 2011, <strong><em>I never had to worry again</em></strong> about who to call or what I was going to do or where the money was going to come from.</p>
<p>Best of all, on that wonderful day, the faucets opened up and my business instantly stopped being a monstrous non-scalable, stress-induced, energy-sucking task-oriented golden shackle company that required my total, constant and direct involvement to make and manage every single penny&#8230;</p>
<p>and transformed into a beautiful semi-automated perpetual passive income producer 🙂</p>
<p>and <strong><em>it all happened OVERNIGHT!</em></strong></p>
